I studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente, but moved to Maastricht to perform my master thesis at MERLN under supervision of Prof. Pamela Habibovic (IBE). There I focused on the invasiveness of Staphylococcus aureus into bone cells by studying the effect of silver-doped calcium phosphates on osteogenic, angiogenic and osteomyelitis-related gene expression of MG63s and hMSCs. Afterwards I did my master internship in Stockholm in Molly Stevens’ group on direct conversion of mouse fibroblasts to neurons on 3D printed scaffolds. Since 2017, I am PhD candidate in Vanessa LaPointe’s group within the department of cBITE at the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine. Here I work on understanding cell behaviour in 3D cultures. More specifically I study kidney organoids and work on prolonging their maturation.
