Harold Hassink is a Professor of Auditing and Director of Executive Masters at UMIO | Maastricht University.
Harold’s research covers various topics in the field of accountancy, where he aims to build bridges between the traditionally separated worlds of auditing, accounting and governance. He studies, for example, the quality of the work of accountants and their independence, but also analyses their decision making processes if they stumble across fraud in the course of their work. Additionally, he examines bookkeeping scandals and whistle blower regulations.
Other research interests include how companies use the internet to add content to their investor relations activities, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Here his focus is particularly on the financial reporting of sustainability.
